They know what they do, they know how to handle situations, they play their game with a really high intensity. I am happy how the players executed the game plan. For us, it all started on defense. Once we got some stops, we controlled the rebounds, it helped us also to get easy points on the break. But it also gave us confidence, which we got through defense. It was really helpful to get Papagiannis and Papapetrou back. They give us not only fresh legs but a lot of quality. Today s game started in the second half with Real; that s what we talked about before the game. That is why I said that I like the way the players reacted. Baskonia bounces back at home
TD Systems Baskonia returned to winning ways by downing Zalgiris Kaunas 81-68 at Buesa Arena on Friday. Baskonia improved to 10-13 to stop a four-game losing streak. Zalgiris dropped to 13-10 but remains in playoffs territory. Pierria Henry paced the winners with 19 points. Alec Peters added 15, Luca Vildoza had 14 and Tonye Jekiri 10 for Baskonia. Marius Grigonis led Zalgiris with 17 points. Thomas Walkup added 14 and Joffrey Lauvergne 12 for the guests. Baskonia led 21-20 after 10 minutes, extending its margin to 45-36 at halftime and then again to 61-48 at the end of the third quarter to keep full control of the game until the final buzzer.
ASVEL keeps momentum, beats Zvezda on road
LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne picked up more momentum in its fight to make the playoffs as it collected a thrilling 78-81 road victory against Crvena Zvedza mts Belgrade. ASVEL gave up a 15-point lead but was carried to the win by Norris Cole, who tallied 15 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter. Antoine Diot scored 14 points and Amine Noua chipped in 12 as ASVEL won its third straight game and fourth in five contests for a 9-14 record. Corey Walden and Ognjen Dobric both scored 17 points and Landry Nnoko added 12 for Zvezda. But it was not enough and the Serbian club dropped its fourth loss in the last five games for a 7-12 record.
Milan fights back for sixth straight win
AX Armani Exchange Milan came from behind to make it six wins in a row with an 82-76 victory over Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday night. Balanced and consistent offense allowed Zenit to take a 35-44 halftime lead, but Milan gradually came back into the game after the break and finished stronger to edge over the winning line. Kevin Punter led five Milan scorers in double figures with 14 points, followed by Sergio Rodriguez with 13. Malcolm Delaney and Kyle Hines each netted 12 points and Vladimir Micov added 10. Kevin Pangos and Austin Hollins scored 12 for Zenit, with KC Rivers netting all 11 of his points in the first half. The victory took Milan into third place at 15-7, while Zenit dropped to 13-8.
